Finally a breather...

It has been 4 weeks since we had gone to the vet and she is doing great. Granted she is still on antibiotics but the control is there and she down to a single Proin a day. The poop is nice and healthy, appetite is good and she is svvelt 69 lbs. We will wait 3-5 days to see what the cyto brings us back. Her urine still a little cloudy but the best case scenario is that the antibiotic is working and there is little to no bacteria in her bladder. UTI are horrible. Not only are they a lot to clean up. You have to make sure everything is waterproof and sealed but they are hard to get rid of completely. We have tried changing or adjusting her diet with little to no results. We've added Chinese herbals and can't really tell if they have helped or not. Cranberry supplements upset her stomach so the only reasonable thing left to do is leave her on an antibiotic for an extended period to be sure we've knocked it out. Only time will tell if this works.

It has been very frustrating...feeeling like no one is listening or have heard our plight. She's been on the Proin forever and it seems like it sometimes could be incontinence and I don't doubt that could be part of the problem but sometimes I think she is just tired and that could be part of it but I don't know. I'm afraid she's been dealing with this for sometime. We need some resolution soon...

Prologue: Bella

Bella is an eleven year old Weimaraner who lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her two owners, Scott and Gwen. She is an only child and probably spoiled. She has 3 beds and a crate that filled with cotton quilts and extra bedding. Her favorite bed is the Urban Sprawl. She hates lumpy bedding, but loves warm nuzzily places. She's been know to wear scarves in the winter because her teeth will chatter. She likes cheese. All kinds of cheese and often becomes ravenous at the slightest smell. She likes Texas toothpicks, they are really the tips of smoked cow tails. She also likes tuna and salmon. Bella hasn't eaten dog food in 3 years. She has a variety of home cooked meals. Right now she's eating beef and barley stew with veggies. She loves to go for walks her neighborhood and in the park. She really wants a squirrel. She's run down a couple of chipmunks, a bird and wild kitten. Much to her owners horror, she was just too fast. She really likes to ride in the car and stick her head out the sunroof. She's riden in a golf cart and gone camping a few times. She is a very happy girl who is squeamish with wet grass and likes good belly rub.
